Call for Papers: Deadline 31 March 2017

The 2nd International Symposium on Parallels between Australian Indigenous People and People of Chinese Mongolian Nationality is designed to stimulate discussions in a field that has become increasingly important to both Australia and China, and yet has not received the kind of attention it deserves within the broader community of Australian Studies in China. The theme of this year is: Experience of Minority People in a Dominant Culture. A wide range of topics will be explored and discussed, including Literature and Art, Environment Protection and Sustainable Development, History and Culture, Education and Science, Sports and Health, through the prism of the experiences of Australian Indigenous people and people of Chinese Mongolian Nationality. There will be a session for the postgraduate students, too.

The conference encourages the scholars, professional and students from Australia and other relevant Centres to present their research cognate with our theme. Presentations are generally 30 minutes long, including the Q & A session. The languages of the conference are English and Mongolian. Please send a paper title and 250-word proposal (or other format description) by 31 March 2017 to asc_imnu@163.com. Meanwhile, you are also welcome to contact us on asc_imnu@163.com with any questions regarding the symposium and your availability.

Conference fees: CNY 700 per person (CNY 400 for post-graduate student). The fee covers all breakfasts, lunches, dinners, coffee breaks and sight-seeing around Hohhot. Travel, accommodation and post-conference cultural tours will be at participants’ own expense.
