The 16th International Conference of Australian Studies in China
Australia in the Changing World
21-23 June 2018, Beijing
Since its founding in 1988, the Chinese Association for Australian Studies has been committed to promoting Australian studies and strengthening the mutual understanding between Australia and China. One of its major missions is to organise the biennial international conferences of Australian Studies in China.
With the support of the Chinese Association for Australian Studies (CAAS), the Australia-China Council (ACC) and the Foundation for Australian Studies in China, the 16th International Conference of Australian Studies in China will be held in Beijing on 21-23 June 2018, jointly hosted by the Australian Studies Centres at Beijing Foreign Studies University and Inner Mongolia Normal University. The Conference coincides with the 30th anniversary of the CAAS and the 40th anniversary of the ACC.
The theme of the 2018 Conference is Australia in the Changing World. It aims to explore the development of Australia in the Asia-Pacific region and its increasingly important relations with Asia, the Pacific, America, Europe and other parts of the world. The Conference is multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary and welcomes papers on politics, economy, trade, international relations, history, society, culture, education, language, literature, translation, arts and so forth.
The working language of the Conference is English. Speakers who intend to present their papers in Chinese are expected to provide abstracts in English.
The Conference fees are CNY1,000 or AU$200 each (half fees for postgraduate students). Participants cover their own transport (airfares and train fares) and accommodation. A self-funded tour to Inner Mongolia will be organised after the Conference.
