In 2018, the International Australian Studies Association (InASA) established a publishing subsidy scheme designed to assist early career researchers working in Australian Studies. The subsidy is designed to assist early career researchers in a publishing venture, or for the inclusion of essential items such as illustrations, photographs or maps. It is administered by a sub-committee made up of executive members of InASA. The 2023 sub-committee was Professor Noah Riseman (ACU) and Associate Professor Maggie Nolan (UQ).
We are pleased to announce that Dr Geraldine Fela is awarded $1,500 as a 2023 recipient of the InASA ECR Publication Subsidy Scheme. Congratulations! The sub-committee was impressed with Dr Fela’s application and how she intend to use the specified funds toward the publication of her forthcoming book “Gloves were off”: Australian Nurses, HIV and AIDS, 1983–1996.
