ECR Publishing Subsidy Scheme: 2024 Winners Announced

In 2018, InASA established a publishing subsidy scheme designed to assist early career researchers working in Australian Studies. The subsidy is designed to assist early career researchers in a publishing venture, or for the inclusion of essential items such as illustrations, photographs or maps. It is administered by a sub-committee made up of executive members of InASA. The 2024 sub-committee was Associate Professor Maggie Nolan (University of Queensland) and Adjunct Professor Noah Riseman (La Trobe).

InASA is pleased to announce that Dr Tets Kimura, Dr Lauren Samuelsson, and Dr Annemarie McLaren are the 2024 recipients of the InASA ECR Publication Subsidy Scheme. Each recipient will be awarded $1,500 for their upcoming publication:

  • Fashion, Soft Power and Cultural Diplomacy: A Case Study of Japanese Fashion in Australia (Tets Kimura);
  • A Matter of Taste: The Australian Women’s Weekly and the creation of Australian food culture (Lauren Samuelsson);
  • Aboriginal-Colonial Exchanges in New South Wales, 1800-1835: When the Strangers Came to Stay (Annemarie McLaren).

Congratulations to Tets, Lauren and Annemarie! We look forward to reading these fascinating publications.
